The Israeli Attorney General’s Office has launched an offical investigation into Sara Netanyahu following a December exposé by Channel 12's "Uvda" revealing messages sent by her to Hani Bliwis, Benjamin Netanyahu's former chief of staff, directing the targeting of Hadas Klein, a key witness in 'Case 1000' involving allegations of fraud and breach of trust against the sitting Israeli Prime Minister.

The probe follows a formal request for public disclosure of information submitted by MK Naama Lazimi (Labor)

Some Background. In 2019, Netanyahu allegedly urged Bliwis to act against Klein, calling her a "vile liar." The investigative report also revealed that Mrs Netanyahu also encouraged protests outside the home of prosecutor Liat Ben-Ari and orchestrated a demonstration against a bereaved family of a fallen soldier.

Further findings suggest that Bliwis coordinated with Israel's Police Commissioner Dani Levi and praised his crackdown on anti-government protests. After "Uvda" aired, Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara ordered an inquiry into Mrs Netanyahu for witness tampering and obstruction of justice.

Meanwhile, Police sought to seize Bliwis’s phone, but her children claimed they didn’t have it. A court order was issued promptly, yet the family insisted they did not know its whereabouts.

In January, "Haaretz" reported that a Netanyahu family associate pressured Bliwis’s family to sue "Uvda" to prove they hadn’t leaked the phone. The source allegedly warned that noncompliance would have financial repercussions, hinting at withheld funds from Likud headquarters.

Bliwis worked for Likud for 15 years, managing Netanyahu’s office. Her family plans to sue the party, alleging financial exploitation and mistreatment. They claim she was forced to make personal purchases for the Netanyahu family, acting as their "wallet," and faced targeted harassment in 2021 to diminish her role.

A few years after a rift between Bliwis and her former employer, the once-close confidant passed away from cancer.
