Israeli aircraft are currently striking targets inside Iran, according to Israeli reports, marking a major escalation in the confrontation between Jerusalem and Tehran.

Initial reports indicate that the strikes are taking place in central and western Iran. The Guardian and AP reported that Israel said it had carried out strikes inside Iran following earlier Iranian missile fire, with explosions reported in several Iranian cities including Isfahan and Tehran.

Hebrew-language alert channels reported shortly after the strikes began that Israel’s security establishment is preparing for possible Iranian missile launches toward all parts of the country in the immediate term. The reports also cited Iranian threats of a forceful response, including statements attributed to the Revolutionary Guards warning that Israel had “opened the gates of hell.”

Additional unconfirmed Iranian reports claimed movement near launch sites and communication disruptions around missile bases near Shiraz and Isfahan, possibly connected to launch preparations.

There has been no immediate official Israeli confirmation of the full scope of the operation, the exact targets struck, or the scale of expected Iranian retaliation.

The strikes come after a sharp escalation between Israel and Iran, with Iran launching missiles at Israel and the IDF moving to respond directly inside Iranian territory. The situation remains highly fluid, with Israeli authorities expected to issue further instructions if an Iranian response begins.
