In a speech delivered at a U.S. military base, President Donald Trump highlighted the role of a classified weapon he dubbed the "discombobulator" in the successful January raid that led to the capture of former Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.

The remarks, have sparked widespread online discussion, blending intrigue over advanced U.S. technology with humorous takes on the weapon's quirky name.

The event saw Trump meeting with elite troops who executed the daring operation on January 3, 2026, which involved disabling Venezuelan defenses without a single shot fired.

"They even talk about the discombobulator because they never got a shot off," Trump said.

"The Russian equipment didn't work, the Chinese equipment didn't work, everyone's trying to figure out why it didn't work. Some day you're gonna find out."

He described the raid as an "unbelievable operation" that was "so precise, so incredible," emphasizing how the weapon rendered enemy systems inoperable.

This isn't the first time Trump has referenced the device. In a January 24, exclusive interview with the New York Post, he revealed that the "Discombobulator" was key to the mission, stating it made Venezuelan equipment "not work" and prevented rockets from launching.

Sources suggest it may be a pulsed energy or sonic weapon capable of disrupting electronics and potentially disorienting personnel, though details remain classified.

Trump reiterated in an NBC News interview that the weapon "discombobulated" everything, adding, "None of their equipment works, that's what it does."

Venezuelan officials have condemned the operation, with the defense minister accusing the U.S. of using the country as a "weapons laboratory."

The raid, which also reportedly involved turning off lights in Caracas, has been hailed by Trump as a major victory against drug cartels and foreign influence in the region.

Trump has even threatened similar actions against cartels in Mexico.
