Maccabi Haifa have signed Israel captain Eli Dasa on a two-year contract, bringing the defender back to the Israeli Premier League after seven years in Europe.
The club confirmed the deal on Sunday. Dasa, 33, will join the squad immediately.
He had been a free agent since his contract with Dutch side NEC Nijmegen expired at the end of last season. Dasa initially hoped to stay in Europe, ideally in the Netherlands, but opted to return home after a period of searching for a club.
Hapoel Be’er Sheva also held talks with the defender, but he chose Maccabi Haifa’s offer.
He spent recent seasons in the Netherlands and Russia. Maccabi Haifa will be his third Israeli club: he began his career at Beitar Jerusalem before moving to Maccabi Tel Aviv, where he won the league title in 2018-19.
