New rules for Israel's Eurovision pick

After years of the familiar red-and-blue voting system, the new season of "Rising Star for Eurovision" brings a significant change. This time, the judges will award contestants points in a format borrowed from Eurovision itself.

Goodbye red and blue, hello douze points

Under the new system, each judge will award contestants a score ranging from 4 to 12 points, replacing the voting method viewers have known until now. The studio audience will continue to participate in the voting, and the show's signature screen will remain in place.

The threshold for advancing stays unchanged: contestants will still need to reach 70% to raise the screen and continue in the competition.

New judge joins the panel

The judges' table is also getting a notable addition. Singer Osher Cohen will join Shiri Maimon, Keren Peles, Itay Levi and Asaf Amdursky this season, taking part in selecting Israel's next Eurovision representative.

Returning as hosts are Rotem Sela and Assi Azar, who will continue guiding contestants on their path to Europe's biggest stage.

Following Noa Kirel, Yuval Raphael and Eden Golan, who represented Israel in recent years, this season's "Rising Star" winner will receive the ticket to Eurovision 2027, which will be held in Bulgaria.
