James Mujaji, a night security guard at Providence College, hadn't seen his family in over ten years. When students learned of his situation, they launched a fundraising campaign that brought him to tears.

College Students Raise $3,000 to Send Security Guard Home to Nigeria After a Decade

When students living in Raymond Hall at Providence College in Rhode Island learned that their night security guard, James Mujaji, hadn't been able to visit his family in Nigeria for more than ten years, they decided to take action.

The students launched an online fundraising campaign to help Mujaji afford the trip back home. Within just seven days, they raised $3,000, which they presented to him as a surprise.

A video capturing the moment shows Mujaji overwhelmed by the gesture. He collapses to the floor in tears as students surrounding him chant, "We love you, James!"

Daniel Singh, a student who served as a resident assistant in the dormitory, told Mujaji during the presentation: "We take care of our guys. That's what we do here. We do it for each other and now we're doing it for you."

Brandon Reichert, one of the students who helped organize the fundraiser, described Mujaji as "the best person anyone has ever met in this building." He added: "He means so much to us. It was amazing to see how quickly everyone came together and managed to organize this for him."
