Israeli content creator uses AI to place former prime minister Golda Meir in Gen Z scenarios, Pilates, matcha, shopping, and the internet can't tell if it's real
An Israeli content creator has found a new way to confuse the internet: AI-generated videos of Golda Meir doing Pilates, sipping matcha, shopping for clothes, and getting her nails done.
Yonatan, who posts humorous videos and stories online, has been uploading a series of clips showing Israel's fourth prime minister living the life of a modern Gen Z woman. The videos, created using artificial intelligence, are realistic enough that viewers often don't realize what they're watching at first.
In the AI-generated series, Golda gets an entirely new daily routine. One video shows her in a Pilates class, another with a matcha latte in hand. In others, she's shopping, applying makeup, or sitting for a manicure, and it all looks disturbingly authentic.
That's exactly what makes the videos so funny. For the first few seconds, a viewer might think they're watching an ordinary older woman in a modern TikTok-style clip. Then the face registers: that's supposed to be Golda Meir.
The concept doesn't stop with the former prime minister. David Ben-Gurion also gets the same treatment from time to time, finding himself in situations that would be hard to picture in any history textbook.
The videos are drawing a flood of reactions online, with many viewers surprised by how real the results look. And so, decades after they appeared in the history books, Golda and Ben-Gurion are getting a second career, this time as viral internet stars.
