A car powered by compressed natural gas exploded Thursday while refueling at a station near Karjan in Gujarat state, India.
The blast, captured on security cameras, occurred on the NH-48 highway and tore apart the rear section of the vehicle, hurling metal fragments and glass shards several meters in every direction. Two cars parked nearby sustained damage.
No one was injured. The driver had stepped out of the car during refueling, following standard safety procedures, and station workers were standing at a distance from the vehicle. Fire crews and police arrived at the scene and brought the incident under control. Authorities are still investigating what caused the CNG tank to explode.
