Why God Doesn’t Choose the Strong — He Chooses the Struggling

If life feels like a battle, it’s not because you’re failing: it’s because you’re being chosen for something higher.

Ever feel like you're being hunted by your own life? Like you're surrounded by failures, fears, temptations, and frustrations? You wake up and wonder: Is God really on my side? Why do I feel so alone in this battle?

There’s a truth in Torah that can shift how you see it.

God Doesn’t Choose the Strongest. He Chooses those who are Struggling.

Look at the animals chosen for the korbanot in the Temple. Not the lion. Not the eagle. God picked the ox, the cow, the goat, and the sheep.

Why?

Because the ox is chased by the lion. The goat is hunted by the leopard. The sheep runs from the wolf.

God says, “That’s who I want.” Not the one doing the chasing, but the one being chased.

God Loves the One Who Keeps Running

This is the pattern throughout the Torah.

He chose Hevel, who was chased by Kayin.

He chose Avraham, who was hunted by Nimrod.

He chose Yitzchak, who was threatened by Yishmael.

He chose Yaakov, who was chased by Esav.

He chose Yosef, who was betrayed by his brothers.

He chose Moshe, who fled from Pharaoh.

He chose David, who ran from Shaul.

And He chose the Jewish people, because we have always been chased by the nations of the world.

The Rambam writes that the Jewish people are like the dirt of the earth. We are stepped on by others throughout history. But when a person dies, it is the dirt that covers him. In the end, the ones who were stepped on rise above those who stepped.

The Struggle Is the Signal

There is a strange pattern in life. Right before something good is meant to happen, things fall apart.

That is not coincidence. It is the work of the Satan.

The Satan is sent to chase you just before your breakthrough. He uses distraction, temptation, exhaustion, self-doubt. He whispers, “You’ve already fallen so many times. Why try again?”

That is how you know you are in the fight. That is how you know you matter.

Jewish tradition speaks of three types of sin:

1. There is sin we do without realizing.

2. There is sin we do with full knowledge.

3. There is sin we do when we feel powerless to stop.

In all three, the common factor is the chase. But God does not reject those who fall. He wants those who get up.

Your Mess Is Your Message

So if your life feels like a mess, if you are fighting private battles or carrying visible scars, that is not a disqualification. That is your proof that you are being chosen.

Our generation is drowning in distractions and temptation. But that is exactly why we are the ones God wants. Not the ones who have it all together. The ones who are being chased the hardest.

That is the generation where redemption will begin.

So if you feel like you can barely keep going, if you feel like your life is too chaotic to fix, remember this.

You are not lost. You are not forgotten. You are not too late.

You are the one God wants.
