Antisemitic Vehicle Attacks in UK: Rising Threat to Jews

A disturbing video circulating on social media appears to show a driver deliberately accelerating through a red light toward a visibly Jewish family at a pedestrian crossing on Leicester Road in Salford.

The footage shows a woman and children, identifiable by their traditional Jewish attire, waiting for the green pedestrian signal before beginning to cross. A white vehicle, which had stopped at the green light for traffic, then accelerates sharply as the light turns red for the driver, heading directly at the family. The group jumps back onto the curb just in time to avoid being struck.

Jewish community leaders and users on X have described it as a suspected deliberate ramming attempt. Posts highlight the driver’s actions as intentional, stopping early and then flooring the accelerator once the crossing light changed.

Greater Manchester Police have not yet issued a public statement confirming an arrest or investigation details as of this writing, but the video evidence is being shared widely with calls for authorities to treat it as a hate crime.

This comes amid heightened tensions and a documented surge in antisemitic incidents in Britain, particularly in areas with large Jewish populations like Greater Manchester. Similar vehicle attacks targeting Jews have been reported in London and elsewhere in recent months.
