Hateful Act Exposed
WATCH Disgraceful Act: PhD Student’s Destruction of Hostage Ribbons Ignites Fury
A London PhD student’s destruction of yellow ribbons honoring Gaza hostages reveals her ignorance and fuels anger over rising antisemitism.
In a vile display of ignorance and cruelty, Nadia Yahlom, a taxpayer-funded PhD student in north London, was caught on video desecrating yellow ribbons tied to a fence outside Princes Avenue Park in Muswell Hill on Monday. These ribbons, symbols of the Bring Them Home campaign for the 48 hostages still enduring unimaginable suffering in Hamas’s Gaza tunnels, were cut down with scissors by Yahlom, who callously justified her actions by accusing the memorials of supporting “genocide.” The viral clip, widely shared on X, has unleashed a torrent of condemnation, exposing the depths of anti-Semitic sentiment and cluelessness about the Israel-Hamas war that fuels such acts.
The October 7, 2023, Hamas massacre saw 1,200 Israelis, babies, elderly, festival-goers, slaughtered and 251 abducted by the Iranian-backed terrorist group. Two years later, 48 hostages remain captive, many facing starvation and torture. Yahlom, a researcher at the University of Westminster’s Centre for Research and Education in Arts and Media, funded by the Arts Council via government and National Lottery money, showed no remorse. “I’m not committing a crime. If I am, then call the police,” she snapped at bystanders. When accused of being disgusting, she retorted, “I think condoning a genocide is disgusting,” clutching the severed ribbons. Her research, bizarrely focused on “hauntedness” and “bio/necropolitical” themes between Palestine and the UK, and her role in Sarha Collective, an artists’ group tied to the SWANA region, only amplify the irony of her attacking symbols of human suffering.
Social media erupted, with users demanding her arrest and defunding. “This is North London. This was targeted and cruel, full stop,” one wrote on X. Another fumed, “Disgusting! The Arts Council needs to defund her TODAY.” The Metropolitan Police are investigating potential hate crimes or criminal damage, with increased patrols in Muswell Hill. “Officers have stepped up reassurance patrols following reports that yellow ribbons were removed,” a spokesman said. Yahlom’s actions aren’t just vandalism, they’re a slap in the face to families praying for their loved ones’ return from Hamas’s clutches. Her stunt reflects a broader wave of antisemitism masquerading as activism, driven by trendy anti-Israel narratives that ignore Hamas’s rockets, human shields, and genocidal charter. Israel fights to free its people from a terror group that revels in their pain, while idiots like Yahlom, oblivious to the war’s realities, tear down symbols of hope. Her disgrace demands accountability, justice for the hostages can’t wait.
