A monthly general meeting of the progressive Park Slope Food Coop descended into chaos Tuesday night after a member declared “Jewish supremacism is a problem in this country” and compared Jews to Nazis, prompting applause from dozens of attendees.

The remarks were made over Zoom by a participant using the screen name Michael Huarachi during a heated discussion about a proposed boycott of Israeli goods. According to a recording obtained by the New York Post and multiple eyewitnesses, at least 50 people in the room applauded the comments.

Huarachi reportedly added: “We can’t keep making the same mistakes between what we did with the Nazis and what we did with other hateful, racist groups.”

Jewish members present described the incident as shocking and said the meeting quickly became chaotic. The Park Slope Food Coop, long known for its left-leaning politics and member-run model, has faced repeated internal battles over Israel-related boycotts in recent years.

The outburst has drawn widespread condemnation online and from Jewish organizations, who called it a blatant display of antisemitism cloaked in anti-Israel activism. Jewish coop members have previously reported facing harassment, including being labeled “Nazis” and accused of having “Palestinian blood” on their hands for opposing boycott efforts.

No immediate statement was issued by coop leadership as of Wednesday. The incident is the latest in a string of controversies at the iconic Brooklyn cooperative, which has more than 17,000 members.
