Zohran Mamdani organized and led a major anti-Israel rally in New York City on October 20, 2023 — just 13 days after Hamas terrorists launched their deadly attack on Israel, killing 1,200 people and taking hundreds hostage.
For anyone who may have forgotten, this was the deadliest attack on Jews in a single day since the Holocaust. It wasn't just just that they slaughtered Jews, it was that Hamas terrorists kidnapped toddlers from 3 to elderly people aged 85. They raped men and women and mutilated living people. They mowed down people for the 'fun' of it. They defiled corpses. They giggled while doing it. But Mamdani celebrated it nonetheless.
The event, co-organized by NYC-DSA and other groups, drew over 3,000 protesters demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and an end to U.S. aid to Israel.
Mamdani, then a state legislator, was filmed leading chants of "End the Occupation, Apartheid, Stop the Genocide," phrases that surfaced before Israel's full ground offensive in Gaza.
Protesters held signs reading "End All Aid to Israel" and targeted elected officials like Sen. Chuck Schumer.
Mamdani and dozens of others were arrested for civil disobedience during the demonstration outside Schumer's Brooklyn home.
Critics, including Jewish groups, have resurfaced videos of the rally amid Mamdani's 2025 mayoral bid, labeling his actions as "unhinged" and antisemitic.
Mamdani, a DSA member, has defended the protest as a call for human rights and solidarity with Palestinians.
The rally occurred amid a 300% surge in NYC antisemitic incidents post-October 7, fueling debate over Mamdani's fitness for mayor as polls show him leading ahead of Tuesday's election.
