Israeli forces destroyed an extensive tunnel in the Khan Younis area of southern Gaza, discovering three underground living quarters and dozens of weapons, the Israel Defense Forces announced Sunday.
The Combat Team from the 188th Brigade, operating under the Gaza Division's 143rd Division, has spent recent weeks clearing the area around the Yellow Line, a demarcation zone east of Khan Younis that remains under Israeli control.
According to the military, troops working with Yahalom combat engineering forces demolished a tunnel system stretching hundreds of meters underground. The subterranean network contained three rooms used for lodging and a substantial weapons cache.
Items seized from the tunnel included approximately 45 grenades, 35 ammunition magazines, around 10 Kalashnikov rifles, RPG rockets, an RPG launcher, about 10 explosive devices and six vests.
