Globes: Israeli free trade agreement with Guatemala goes into effect today
The new agreement will include mutual tariffs reductions on each others' exports.


A free trade agreement with Guatemala went into effect today (Thursday) with the signature of Finance Minister Betzalel Smotrich, according to a Globes report.
The agreement, with one of the wealthiest Central American economies in terms of financial activity, will include mutual reductions or elimination of tariffs on Israeli and Guatemalan products being exported to one another, especially agricultural goods like olive oil.
Guatemala thus joins Mexico, the Mercasur countries (Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay, Panama, and Columbia in having a free trade agreement with the State of Israel.
