Israel's Department for the Investigation of Police Officers (known by its Hebrew acronym Mahash) filed an indictment Wednesday against a Border Police officer accused of assaulting a female colleague and committing an indecent act against her.

According to the indictment submitted to Petah Tikva Magistrate's Court by attorney Lidor Malko, the accused, a squad commander in the Border Police's West Bank division, brought the complainant, a female Border Police officer who had enlisted several months after him, to the club building at their base near Jerusalem.

Under the guise of an "initiation ceremony" for the female officer, the defendant instructed her to turn her back to him and place her hands on one of the refrigerators in the room.

The accused then began asking her questions, and each time she answered incorrectly, he struck her forcefully in the ribs with his fists, approximately 15 times in total. He subsequently ordered her to remove her coat and turn to face him, then continued questioning her while hitting her in the stomach and pulling her hair.

At a certain point, the defendant sat down on a chair with his legs spread apart. He pulled the complainant's hair forcefully until she bent down on her knees between his legs. While holding her face, and without her consent, he pulled her closer and brought her face near his genitals. The complainant finally broke free from his grip in panic and stood up.

The investigation was conducted by Mahash's Jerusalem team.
