Israeli authorities have charged a 20-year-old male from the Negev with planning a terrorist attack in the southern city of Beersheba, following an investigation that revealed alleged contact with foreign operatives and extensive weapons stockpiling.
Abdullah Gargawi, a resident of Segev Shalom, was arrested approximately one month ago and formally indicted Tuesday on serious security offenses as well as illegal weapons possession charges.
Gargawi was detained on July 19 during a joint operation by the Yoav Unit of Israel Police's Southern District and officers from the Segev Shalom station. According to investigators, the suspect had been exposed over an extended period to content associated with the ISIS terrorist organization on social media platforms, identified with the group's ideology, and consumed terrorist propaganda. The investigation further revealed that Gargawi established connections with individuals online, including someone who presented himself as a Palestinian terrorist operative, and participated in Telegram groups where ISIS-related content and terrorist activity materials were exchanged.
