David Berman, an 84-year-old great-grandfather and member of Prestwich Hebrew Congregation, was found dead at his home on Butterstile Lane, Prestwich, on March 13, 2025.

His wife, Daryl Berman, 70, has been charged with his murder and appeared at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court on Tuesday, followed by a video-link appearance at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court yesterday (Wednesday) where she did not enter a plea.

Greater Manchester Police launched a murder investigation after a post-mortem revealed suspicious injuries. Daryl, reportedly David’s third wife of 26 years, was arrested in March. David, who ran a joinery business, had retired last year, citing health and declining work, according to a Jewish Telegraph interview.

Daryl Berman is set to face trial later in 2025. No bail application was made.
