He murdered his sister, then used her credit card to buy snacks and wine
Dan Agam Cohen Sela, 44, has been indicted for the brutal murder of his sister, Mia Cohen, z”l, in Hadera. Prosecutors allege he violated a restraining order, ambushed her in their parents’ backyard, and fatally stabbed her before attempting to cover up the crime.

Dan Agam Cohen Sela, 44, faces charges of murdering his sister, Mia Cohen, z"l, in Hadera, according to an indictment filed by the Haifa District Attorney’s Office. The prosecution alleges that Sela, after violating a restraining order issued due to prior threats, broke into Mia’s apartment, stole her laptop, and, enraged by her emails with their siblings, decided to kill her.
On April 27, 2025, Sela ambushed Mia in the backyard of their parents’ home, where she lived, and attacked her with a knife. Despite her pleas, he continued the assault, leading to her death. He then used her credit card to buy snacks and wine, buried her body in the yard, and concealed it with a table and objects. Sela attempted to erase evidence by cleaning blood from the house and hiding bloodstained items.
The indictment, filed by Attorney Maya Matzliach, details how Sela’s harassment, including threats and property damage, prompted Mia to secure the restraining order. Family members discovered her grave on April 28 after she stopped answering their messages and calls.
Sela is charged with aggravated murder, threats, false police reports, property damage, violating a protective order, theft, breaking and entering, unauthorized computer access, obstructing justice, and evidence tampering. The prosecution seeks his detention until the trial’s conclusion.
