Jerusalem District Police launched an investigation Wednesday evening into a disturbing incident in the Ramat Eshkol neighborhood after a two-year-old girl was found with visible injuries on her body.

The incident began when the toddler's parents contacted police emergency services to report their daughter had disappeared from their home for what they estimated was approximately half an hour. The parents immediately began searching nearby streets for their missing child.

They eventually located the toddler wandering in the neighborhood, but were alarmed to discover clear signs of injury on her body, raising immediate concerns that she had been subjected to violence or harm during her absence.

Emergency medical teams were dispatched to the scene alongside police units from the Lev HaBira (Heart of the Capital) station. Paramedics provided initial medical treatment on site before transporting the child to a hospital for comprehensive examination and further care. Her medical condition was described as light.

Police officers who arrived at the scene secured the area and launched immediate investigative procedures. These included preliminary questioning of the parents, collecting testimony from passersby in the area, and conducting a thorough search of the location where the toddler was found, in an effort to reconstruct the timeline and sequence of events during those tense minutes.

During their rapid operational sweep of the area, officers located an 11-year-old boy, a Jerusalem resident, in the vicinity of the scene. According to initial suspicions, he may be connected to the incident. Because the suspect is below the age of criminal responsibility under Israeli law, officers detained him at the scene and brought him to the police station for questioning accompanied by his mother, as required by regulations governing the interrogation of minors.

Investigators from the Lev HaBira station continue to examine the circumstances of the case, working to determine exactly what occurred during the minutes the toddler was away from home, what led to her injuries, and what role, if any, the minor played in the incident.
