Warm Apple Crumble with Cinnamon

This classic dessert combines tender spiced apples with a golden, crispy topping, and becomes even better when served with vanilla ice cream

Apple Crumble

Some desserts don't require elaborate preparation, and warm apple crumble is a perfect example. The dish features soft, sweet apples seasoned with cinnamon, topped with a crispy golden layer of buttery crumbs. Served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, it becomes an irresistible treat that's both comforting and simple to make.

Ingredients

For the apple filling:

5 apples

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon

Ready for more?

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the crumble topping:

1 cup flour

½ cup brown sugar

100 grams cold butter, cut into cubes

½ cup rolled oats

Pinch of salt

For serving:

Vanilla ice cream (optional but recommended)

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Peel the apples and cut them into cubes. In a bowl, combine the apple pieces with brown sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Transfer the apple mixture to a small baking dish and spread it into an even layer.

In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, brown sugar, oats, and salt. Add the cold butter cubes and use your hands to work the mixture until it forms coarse, crumbly pieces. Spread the crumble topping evenly over the apples, covering them completely.

Bake for 30-35 minutes, until the topping turns golden brown and the apples soften and begin to bubble. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving while still warm.

For an especially indulgent result, top each serving with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and let it melt slightly into the warm apples.
