Investigators immediately launched professional operations to track the suspect, who apparently realized his actions had been reported. Detectives from the Etzion station, working with intelligence support, located the suspect traveling on Route 443 toward central Israel. At the time of his arrest, police discovered a lot of clothing and equipment in his vehicle, leading investigators to believe he may have been attempting to flee the jurisdiction.
