Yeshivas, Elul

As tensions rise in northern Israel, yeshivas are adapting to the security situation while striving to maintain their intensive Elul study schedules. Despite the IDF Home Front Command's restrictions, including school closures and hospitals operating underground, many Torah institutions are continuing their regular activities.

Moti Wizgan, administrator of the Rechasim Yeshiva and deputy head of the local council, shared insights with Radio Kol B'Rama on Sunday. "We have 600 students at the yeshiva," Wizgan stated. "We've communicated with concerned parents, but so far, no students have left. We're utilizing basement shelters and continuing classes as usual."

However, the possibility of relocation remains on the table. Wizgan explained, "The Rosh Yeshiva will make the final decision. If the situation escalates significantly, we might consider moving to central Israel."

Yossi Yehoshua, Yediot Achronot's military correspondent, commented on the broader context: "The enemy is planning retaliation, which could have various outcomes. Residents won't return to the north until security is assured and Radwan Force terrorists are pushed back from the border."

Yehoshua added that while Israel has not chosen to go to war, some officials are still pursuing diplomatic solutions to the crisis.

As the situation develops, northern yeshivas are balancing their commitment to Torah study with the need to ensure the safety of their students and staff.
