Israeli journalist and current affairs presenter Attila Somfalvi stirred up a storm on X on the eve of the election after sharing an account of the political mood inside an elite IDF unit.
“A good friend told me today that her neighbor serves in a super-elite unit. Top tier,” Somfalvi wrote. “She ran into him on the street, asked what’s going on, and he said everyone’s talking about the elections.”
His friend, he said, was eager to hear more and asked what the soldiers in the unit were saying. The answer surprised her: “Smotrich. A lot. Because of Feiglin.”
Somfalvi summed up his own reaction in four words: “My jaw dropped.”
