Dan Elkayam, Victim of Bondi Massacre, Laid to Rest Today
After Dan was killed in last week's terror shooting on Bondi Beach, his friend eulogized him, “Dan taught us to live every moment, and not to delay what matters.” Thousands of family and friends are expected to attend the ceremony.

Dan Elkayam Hy”d, 27, a French citizen, will be laid to rest today (Thursday) in Ashdod after being killed in the shooting attack targeting Jews celebrating Hanukkah at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia. Elkaim was the last of 15 victims in the attack that occurred last week.
Elkayam, who had lived in Sydney in recent years, had attended the Hanukkah celebrations at the beach with other young Jews, including both tourists and local residents. According to his family, he was shot in the back while attempting to flee the scene and was killed because he was Jewish.
In the days leading up to the attack, Elkayam participated in Hanukkah celebrations, played soccer on the beach, and spent time with friends, activities that reflected his warm, modest, and devoted lifestyle. Friends described him as a beloved individual who loved the sea and soccer and maintained Jewish traditions.
Leaders of the Jewish community in Australia noted that the memory of all victims, including Elkaim, will be honored through acts of solidarity and community initiatives. Elkayam’s family lives in France and Israel, and will participate in the ceremony via live stream.
The funeral will take place today at 13:45 in the Old Funeral Hall in Ashdod, with family, friends, and public representatives in attendance.
