Defiant Tribute
WATCH: Samaria Youth Sing to Tze'ela Gaz at Her Murder Site
Heartbreaking and heartening, at the exact same time. May her memory be a blessing, and may her little boy be healthy, strong and safe.

Ten days after Tzeela Gaz, a 30-year-old mom of three, was gunned down by a Palestinian terrorist while driving to the hospital to give birth, Samaria’s youth showed up to honor her where she fell.
On the eve of Jerusalem Day, students from Amit Bruchin Yeshiva and local teens packed a tent near the attack site, set up by the Samaria Regional Council, and belted out “And Even in Concealment.”

They sang Ve’afilu Behastara, a popular Jewish song inspired by the teachings of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov, as performed by artists like Yoeli Klein, Yosef Karduner, and Yehuda Green. The song’s lyrics are rooted in Rabbi Nachman’s teaching that God is present even in moments of profound spiritual or existential “concealment” (hastara), as referenced in Deuteronomy 31:18. The phrase “concealment within concealment” reflects a state where God’s presence feels utterly hidden, yet faith affirms He is still there.
These are the lyrics (translated):
The Master of the World says to us,“I will surely hide My face on that day.”
But the Rebbe says:“Even in the concealment within the concealment,
Surely there, too, God, Blessed be He, is found.
Even behind the difficult things
That come upon you, I stand, I stand, I stand.”
Yossi Dagan, the council head, said, “Even in this darkness, we pull strength from this holy land we’re building. Am Yisrael Chai!”
It wasn’t just words: it was a vow to keep going, to keep living, despite the blood spilled on Highway 446. Tzeela, a therapist who poured her heart into helping others, was nine months pregnant when Nael Samara, a Hamas-linked gunman, shot her dead near Bruchin on May 14. Her husband, Hananel, was lightly injured, and their baby was delivered by emergency C-section, still clinging to life.
This gathering wasn’t about mourning quietly. It was loud, defiant, and unapologetic. The kids’ voices echoed through the hills, a reminder that Samaria’s spirit won’t break, no matter how many try to tear it down.
