Levaya for Jewish Flight Attendant Killed in Tragic Mid-Air Collision Set for Chabad of Charlotte
A heart-wrenching tragedy unfolded on January 29th, when flight 5342 was involved in a fatal mid-air collision over Washington D.C. Among the 67 victims was Ian Douglas Epstein, a beloved member of the Charlotte, North Carolina Jewish community and a dedicated flight attendant. Ian’s passing has left family, friends, and community members in mourning as they come to terms with the devastating loss.

The Chabad of Charlotte shared the tragic news on Facebook, honoring his memory: “Our Charlotte Jewish Community mourns the loss of Ian Douglas Epstein O.B.M. יצחק דוד בן זלמן מסטל ז״ל.” The phrase O.B.M. (of blessed memory) reflects the deep sorrow and reverence for the loss.
