Peril in Peru: Israeli hiker injured at 4,600 meters, rescued on stretcher
After sustaining a leg injury deep in the Andes, the hiker was carried across treacherous landscapes, with rescue teams braving harsh weather and altitude to reach him.

An Israeli hiker who went hiking alone in the Machu Picchu region of the Peruvian Andes Mountains injured his leg and needed to be rescued from an altitude of 4,600 meters, in complex terrain conditions and in harsh weather.
After he was injured, the hiker found an abandoned building, settled in it and reported it to the emergency center of Clal Insurance and Finance, which is operated by the Magen Search and Rescue Company, which operated local rescue teams.
According to a report in Ynet, there were floods and landslides in the area, and it was not possible to carry out a harvest rescue. The rescue teams had to go out in the direction of the hiker normally, using horses, and managed to complete a distance of five days of normal hiking within 24 hours.
When the teams finally reached the hiker, they gave him first aid in the field and worked to rescue him safely on a stretcher. The injured hiker is currently in the hospital and undergoing a series of tests and treatments.
