Bnei Brak Incident

3 Yeshiva Students Burned at Ponevezh

Students in their 20s suffered burns to hands and feet when a water boiler spilled at the Bnei Brak yeshiva as Tzom Gedaliah ended; condition stable

The scene in Bnei Brak

Three yeshiva students in their twenties were burned by boiling water from a large boiler at Ponevezh Yeshiva in Bnei Brak as Tzom Gedaliah ended. The students sustained burns to their hands and feet and were evacuated for medical treatment at a burns clinic in the city, where their condition is stable.

United Hatzalah medical teams were dispatched to the scene on Abba Grossbard Street and provided initial care to the three young men. According to the report, a boiler containing scalding water spilled onto them, causing burns to their hands and feet.

Aharon Lerer, a medic and ambulance driver with United Hatzalah who treated the injured, reported: "They told me that a boiler of boiling water spilled on them, and as a result they were burned on their hands and feet. I provided them with medical treatment at the scene and then evacuated them for further medical care while their condition was stable."

The incident joins a series of similar burn cases that have occurred in recent months among children and toddlers in the haredi community. Last month during Elul, a two-year-old toddler was burned by boiling water in Beit Shemesh, and in Av another two-year-old was burned in Rehasim by a Shabbat water heater. A similar case was also recorded in Beitar Illit during Pesach preparations.

Rescue organizations recommend strict safety measures: position the water boiler or electric kettle in a location inaccessible to children or toddlers, and ensure that the electrical cord leading to the boiler is also out of children's reach.
