An 82-year-old driver in Acworth, Georgia, lost control of his pickup during a left turn on Tuesday evening and crashed into a building, leaving the vehicle wedged in mid-air roughly three metres off the ground.
According to local police, the driver misjudged the angle of the turn. In an attempt to avoid hitting a traffic island, he jerked the wheel sharply to the side, his foot slipped, and the pickup accelerated straight toward the building.
The vehicle became lodged between a retaining wall and a residential house, suspended at an unusual angle. Rescue crews stabilised the pickup and extracted the driver, who sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital.
Police said there were no signs the driver had been under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and he is expected to make a full recovery.
