Bolsonaro reportedly fled Brazil to US after election loss, Supreme Court investigation

Jair Bolsonaro, who lost Brazil's presidential election to Lula da Silva, has reportedly fled to the United States with his wife and two daughters. Bolsonaro disappeared from public view Monday and failed to surrender his passport to federal police as ordered by the Supreme Court in a criminal investigation into suspected money laundering. Brazilian and Argentinian media report he crossed into Argentina on foot before flying to the US. Sources close to his family confirmed the escape, which was organized with help of a lawyer. Bolsonaro reportedly expressed deep concern about arrest to friends and lawyers before disappearing. He is expected to seek political asylum from the Trump administration.
