Egypt rejects Turkey-Libya maritime agreement as violation of sovereign rights

Egypt's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has rejected the ratification of a memorandum of understanding between Libya and Turkey on maritime jurisdiction areas. The ministry stated the agreement infringes upon Egypt's sovereign rights in its exclusive economic zone and continental shelf. Egypt declared the memorandum null and void, saying its ratification by the Libyan House of Representatives has no legal implications for Egypt.
