France deploys army to reinforce police ahead of Saturday protests
French authorities are preparing for protests this Saturday following clashes between demonstrators and security forces last weekend. The Interior Minister announced that army forces will be deployed to assist police during the demonstrations. The Prime Minister accused far-left groups of planning an uprising and said a large number of police officers will be stationed across the country on Saturday. Paris police banned carrying gasoline and gas canisters in the capital until Thursday. The governor of the Rhône department extended a curfew in central Lyon, running from 21:00 to 06:00.
