Rom Braslavski, who was held hostage by Hamas and later released, publicly criticized Rabbi Raphael Yonatan Polishchuk on Tuesday for officiating at a wedding ceremony this week for singer and actor Shahar Tavoch and his partner Amir Aharon.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Braslavski clarified that his objection was directed at the rabbi rather than at the LGBTQ community itself. "I have no problem with gay people. I have a problem with toy rabbis who disrespect our Torah like this," he wrote.
He continued: "They take something pure and turn it into commerce. Honestly, Moses our teacher would be ashamed of what's happening here because of this pathetic 'rabbi' and his actions. Show respect for the Torah."
