Iranian Foreign Minister says Iran will honor role as guardian of Strait of Hormuz

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Iran holds unparalleled leverage over maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz due to geography, calling the waterway irreplaceable for the region and world economy. Araghchi said Iran intends to honor its historic role as guardian of the Strait and those who lawfully traverse it. He added that progress is possible only once the US administration genuinely accepts it has no military options.
