Unusual footage filmed by locals in southern Syria has captured what residents describe as "reconnaissance flights" by the Israeli Air Force. Villagers in the south report a significant increase in flight frequency over recent weeks, and growing concern over a possible Israeli-Druze military operation in the southern part of the country.
IDF helicopters filmed over southern Syria
Syrian villagers report sharp rise in Israeli overflights in recent weeks, including attack helicopters deploying flares at unusually low altitude. Locals fear Israeli-Druze military action in the south.

IAF attack helicopters were filmed scanning the southern regions of Syria in what locals call "reconnaissance flights." According to village residents, the Air Force is conducting flights with various types of aircraft, including helicopters and unmanned vehicles, as part of intelligence-gathering operations.
The helicopters were filmed flying at unusually low altitude and were documented deploying flares and defensive measures during their flights over Syrian territory.

According to locals, flight frequency has risen significantly in recent days, and they point to real concern over the arming of Druze militias in the area. The footage came from the strategic "triangle" of southern Syria between Daraa, the southwestern Damascus countryside villages, Quneitra, and the Druze Mountain region that controls the territory.
The new footage comes alongside a series of reports about genuine Syrian fears that Israel may be preparing a military surprise in coordination with the Druze in Suwayda, possibly in an attempt to establish a Druze autonomy controlling the south of the country.
