Israel has told Washington that an Iranian attack would draw an exceptionally severe response, Ynet reported Thursday. That response could be unprecedented in scale, even compared with the thousands of Iranian targets Israel and the United States struck during the war.
On the same day, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir held a situation assessment and operational briefing. He told commanders that the risk of escalation had grown.
"Given the numerous warnings across all fronts and the sensitivity of the current period, the potential for escalation has increased," Zamir said.
