Israeli opposition parties unite to form government, recommend Eisenkot for PM mandate
Leaders of Israel's Change and Reform parties met in Herzliya and agreed to coordinate efforts to replace the current government with a National Emergency Government. The party leaders will recommend to the President that Gadi Eisenkot, chairman of the Yashar! party, receive the first mandate to form a government. They emphasized commitment to implementing what they described as voters' clear decision for change against the continuation of the "October 7 government." The leaders discussed what they called a delegitimization campaign by Likud and Netanyahu against the election results and pledged to defend the democratic process. Negotiating teams will begin immediately formulating the new government's guiding principles and coalition agreements.
