Israeli police issued an official statement Wednesday denying widespread social media reports of a security threat in the Haifa area. The clarification came after numerous inquiries from journalists and concerned citizens following unverified claims circulating online about an intelligence warning of a planned terror attack in northern Israel.

According to the police statement, there is no credible security incident and no change to public safety guidelines. Forces from the Carmel District are operating in the area alongside other security agencies, maintaining heightened alertness and operational readiness to ensure public safety. Residents are advised to continue their normal routines while remaining vigilant and reporting any unusual or suspicious activity to the emergency hotline at 100.

The social media posts that sparked concern claimed an intelligence alert had been received regarding a potential attack in Haifa. The unverified message described a lone assailant, allegedly a resident of Hebron, who might be in the Haifa area planning to target a business, restaurant, or café.

In its official response, police emphasized the importance of avoiding the spread of rumors and relying only on information from official sources. Authorities said they would provide additional updates to the public if necessary.

This incident is part of a pattern of unconfirmed security reports spreading on social media platforms. Several weeks ago, similar unfounded claims circulated about an attempted attack at Hadar Mall in Jerusalem, which also proved baseless after official investigation.
