Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu landed in Washington Thursday afternoon, Israel time, ahead of his address to the UN General Assembly later this evening. The speech is scheduled to begin around 21:00 Israel time.
The Prime Minister's Office announced this morning that "during his visit, the Prime Minister will meet with the presidents of Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay, Panama, Ethiopia and the vice president of Colombia, and with the prime ministers of Greece, Slovenia and Papua New Guinea."
The office added that "leaders of many countries requested to meet with the Prime Minister during the visit, but due to a packed schedule and the need to return before Sukkos, the Prime Minister was able to accommodate only some of them."
Netanyahu's visit to New York this time is unusually brief. The trip will last only a few hours, centered on his UN General Assembly address. Unlike previous visits that included a series of policy meetings, the current schedule does not include significant bilateral meetings as of now.
The Prime Minister's Office attributes the short visit to security considerations and concerns about potential threats, alongside extraordinary involvement by the US Secret Service.
The expected speech will focus on Iran and its efforts to rebuild its nuclear program and missile capabilities, topics on which Netanyahu is expected to reveal new information, as well as extensive remarks about New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
