Senior Iranian official: Iran, US far from agreement to end war

A senior Iranian official told Reuters that Iran and the United States remain far from reaching an agreement to end the war. The official said Tehran will not accept excessive US demands and stated that if Washington wants to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, it must comply with Iran's conditions before negotiations on the nuclear issue can begin. Iran is prepared to respond forcefully to American attacks both regionally and beyond, the official added. Mediators are working to narrow the gaps between the two sides.
