Iran's foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei addressed reports on Monday of a potential US and Israeli strike against the Islamic Republic, delivering a stark warning to Jerusalem.
"Any attack on Iran, by any means, will trigger a devastating response," Baghaei declared. "We will deliver a crushing blow." He added that the nature of Iran's retaliation would be determined by the country's defenders, stressing that all necessary preparations and scenarios have already been taken into account.
The spokesman went further, stating that in the event of any strike on Iranian territory, American forces and bases would be considered legitimate targets. He cautioned against assuming there would be "geographical limitations or that the response would be confined to the region where previous strikes occurred."
Baghaei concluded with a warning directed at the incoming US administration: "Any potential war could be far longer than its predecessors, and Trump will not be able to dictate when or under what conditions it ends."
