President Donald Trump has identified what he believes is the real culprit behind soaring oil prices hitting $110 per barrel: mutual strikes between Ukraine and Russia on energy infrastructure.
"Ukraine and Russia have agreed to stop attacks on energy facilities. That's what's driving up fuel prices, not the war with Iran," Trump declared.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded with barely concealed sarcasm: "Ukraine is ready to stop attacks on Russia's oil facilities if our allies pressure Russia to stop attacks on our energy infrastructure. Russia doesn't seem interested in stopping."

"Zelenskyy needs to do one thing – he needs to stop hitting diesel fuel in Russia," Trump said during his visit to Ireland. "Let him hit other targets, but not diesel, because that hurts the world."
Earlier, Trump had tied rising prices to the previous American administration. "I hope everyone understands that price increases across America were caused by Sleepy Joe Biden and the Biden administration, not by 'Trump,'" he wrote on his social media platform.
"Even oil was higher under Biden than it is now, and we prevented Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons! Except for a temporary spike in oil, prices are falling sharply, and oil will drop like a stone once the military conflict with Iran ends, and that won't take long."
