U.S.-Iran Tensions

Trump Weighs New Iran Military Action

Senior Pentagon officials presented updated operational plans to the president as tensions escalate following weeks of relative calm between Washington and Tehran

War in Iran

The White House is in the midst of intensive security deliberations as President Donald Trump considers fresh military action against Iran, according to sources close to the administration.

Following a period of nighttime attacks, tit-for-tat strikes, and combative social media statements, senior Pentagon officials have presented the president with new operational plans for potential military strikes against the Islamic Republic. Multiple sources familiar with White House discussions report that Pentagon leadership arrived at the White House to brief Trump on updated military options, with the president now weighing what insiders are describing as a "submission operation" aimed at the Iranian regime.

The developments come after a significant rise in tensions between the two countries following nearly a month of relative de-escalation. Earlier in the day, Vice President J.D. Vance indicated that Trump is attempting to signal to Iran that it must change its behavior or face severe consequences, a message both the president and vice president appear to be reinforcing.

According to the reports, the White House is considering strikes that would completely eliminate Iran's ability to threaten shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, particularly following an incident overnight in which Iran attempted to launch mine-dispersing missiles into the waterway.
