Following his sharp condemnation of violent incidents in the village of Kusra, U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee issued a clarification Thursday evening, drawing a distinction between the settler population and those involved in the confrontations.
"'Settlers' are not the problem in Judea and Samaria. Lawbreakers are the problem," Huckabee stated. He characterized the perpetrators as "a very small minority causing great harm to Palestinian families and to Israel."
The ambassador emphasized that mainstream settler leadership opposes such actions. "Real settlers like Israel Ganz, head of the Yesha Council, condemn the actions of those few," Huckabee said, adding his hope that "the media will pay attention to this and balance their stories."
