A wave of account suspensions on X has triggered sharp accusations of politically motivated censorship, with users claiming the bans disproportionately target pro-Israel, Jewish, and Iranian dissident voices critical of Vice President JD Vance and the Trump administration’s recent memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Iran.
Hundreds of accounts reportedly went dark in the past 24–48 hours. Affected users include Jewish accounts and members of the Iranian diaspora who have voiced opposition to the interim US-Iran agreement, which addresses Iran’s nuclear program, sanctions relief, the Strait of Hormuz, and a Lebanon ceasefire. Many suspensions occurred shortly after intense online criticism of Vance’s defense of the deal and his comments pushing back against Israeli objections.
Laura Loomer and other prominent voices publicly urged Elon Musk to investigate. Users described the bans as sudden and linked to “inauthentic behavior” or spam flags — standard X enforcement categories — but insisted the accounts were genuine humans, not bots.
