The delegation includes the Satmar Rebbe of Kiryas Joel (known as the Maharah), his brother the Satmar Rebbe of Williamsburg (the Maharyi), the Bobover Rebbe, the Vizhnitzer Rebbe of Monsey, Rabbi Malkiel Kotler who heads Beth Medrash Govoha yeshiva in Lakewood, New Jersey, and Rabbi Aharon Mendel Twersky representing his father, the Skverer Rebbe. According to protocols established for the meeting, only the rebbes themselves, their sons, and one community representative from each court will be permitted inside the meeting room, while other attendants will remain outside.
Hasidic communities across the New York area have been preparing intensively for the Washington trip. At the Satmar Rebbe of Kiryas Joel's residence, the rebbe is scheduled to pray the morning service at 8:00 a.m., then depart around 10:00 a.m. for a nearby airfield. He will board a private aircraft at 10:30 a.m. alongside his eldest son, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Teitelbaum, who serves as rabbinical judge for Satmar Williamsburg. The plane is bound for Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, with arrival at the White House planned for approximately noon.
Meanwhile, his brother the Satmar Rebbe of Williamsburg will pray at 7:15 a.m. in his residence's study hall, then take off at 10:30 a.m. aboard a private jet provided by philanthropist Lipa Friedman. Joining him will be his son Rabbi Yaakov Ber Teitelbaum and community liaison Moshe David Niederman. The Bobover Rebbe will travel on the same aircraft, accompanied by his eldest son Rabbi Chaim Sholom Halberstam and representative Yoel Rosenfeld. An interesting detail noted in Williamsburg Satmar circles: although one of the rebbe's grandsons married this week and the rebbe is observing the traditional seven-day celebration period during which he would normally wear formal Hasidic headgear throughout, he will wear a regular hat for the White House meeting.
The Vizhnitzer Rebbe of Monsey will pray at 7:30 a.m., then immediately depart for Washington aboard a private plane provided by philanthropist Tzvi Elimelech Fish. He will be accompanied by his eldest son Rabbi Yaakov Yosef Hager and institutional director Yaakov David Rosenberg.
Following rigorous security screenings at the White House, the formal reception in the presidential office is expected to begin around 1:30 p.m. The meeting itself is anticipated to last approximately half an hour, during which the religious leaders will raise critical issues facing their communities.
Extensive preparation preceded this gathering. Over recent days, intensive consultations have taken place at the residences of various community leaders. On Saturday night, Rabbi Kotler met at the Skverer Rebbe's home together with Rabbi A. Bromberg to discuss a crucial matter of securing the release of imprisoned individuals that will be raised with the president.
Similarly, a lengthy session was held at the Kiryas Joel Satmar Rebbe's residence with Rabbi Yaakov Shapiro. At the Williamsburg Satmar Rebbe's home, representatives from federal prison advocacy organizations met to address the plight of Jewish inmates. Bobov leadership also convened a special gathering under the rebbe's direction to refine their advocacy strategy.
Beyond addressing immediate concerns and raising individual and communal hardships, the Jewish leaders plan to express the Orthodox community's deep gratitude to President Trump for his steadfast support of the Jewish community. White House sources indicate the meeting is part of a broader administration effort to strengthen ties with the Orthodox constituency ahead of midterm elections.
Immediately following the presidential meeting, around 2:30 p.m., the leaders will make their way back to the airports for their return flights home.
