Iran Vows to Set the Red Sea Ablaze

The Iranian regime has issued a desperate and dangerous ultimatum as its conventional military defenses continue to crumble under the weight of "Operation Roaring Lion." According to reports from the Tasnim news agency, a high-ranking military source warned that Iran is prepared to "activate" the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, a move that would effectively shut down one of the world's most critical shipping lanes in the Red Sea. This threat is specifically tied to the possibility of Israeli or American strikes on Iranian oil islands or other sovereign territory, signaling that Tehran is willing to trigger a global economic catastrophe to ensure its own survival.

A Regime in Chaos

This escalation comes as reports emerge regarding the physical and mental state of the new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei. According to security sources, Mojtaba was wounded in his legs and face during a recent Israeli strike, which may explain his prolonged absence from the public eye. However, sources also indicate that his decision to stay in the "shadows" is a tactical choice, as he attempts to navigate a fierce internal struggle between regime hardliners and pragmatists who are terrified of total collapse. The death of his father, Ali Khamenei, has ended an era of unified decision-making, leaving a vacuum where various factions are now fighting over whether to accept Trump’s 15-point deal or launch a final, suicidal maritime war.

The threat to the Bab el-Mandeb is seen by international analysts as a sign of extreme desperation. Unlike the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran can physically dominate from its own coastline, closing the Bab el-Mandeb would require the heavy coordination of proxy forces like the Houthis or the use of long-range suicide drones. By threatening to block both the entry to the Persian Gulf and the Red Sea, the regime is attempting to hold the global economy hostage, hoping to force the United States into a ceasefire that leaves the Islamic Republic intact. As the military command in Tehran fractures, the world is watching to see if these threats are a genuine strategic plan or the final, empty warnings of a regime that has run out of options.
