"You Will Not Succeed": Iran’s Supreme Leader Defies Trump’s Regime Change Calls
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has issued a series of chilling warnings to President Trump, claiming Iran possesses the secret weaponry required to send American aircraft carriers to the bottom of the ocean.

As diplomatic representatives from Washington and Tehran engage in a second round of high-stakes negotiations, Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has chosen to project a message of extreme military defiance rather than compromise. In a series of public addresses and social media posts, Khamenei issued a direct warning to President Donald Trump, asserting that the American military presence in the Middle East is far more vulnerable than the White House acknowledges. While diplomats attempt to find a path toward a nuclear agreement through Omani mediation, the Supreme Leader’s rhetoric remains focused on the survival of the Islamic Republic and the strength of its missile deterrent. This verbal escalation coincided with large-scale live-fire exercises in the Strait of Hormuz, serving as a physical reminder that Tehran is prepared for an all-out war if its demands for sanctions relief and national sovereignty are not met.
Threats Directed at the US Fleet
Khamenei’s most pointed remarks were aimed at the naval assets the United States has deployed to the region, specifically referencing the arrival of warships like the USS Abraham Lincoln. He dismissed the deterrent value of these massive vessels, suggesting that Iran holds a superior tactical advantage. “We constantly hear that the US has sent a warship toward Iran. A warship is certainly a dangerous weapon, but even more dangerous is the weapon capable of sinking it,” Khamenei stated. He further warned that while the US boasts the strongest military in the world, that force “may at times be struck so hard that it cannot get up again.”
The Supreme Leader also took the opportunity to mock what he described as a "good confession" from the American leadership. Referring to recent comments regarding the longevity of the Iranian regime, he noted, “The US president said that for 47 years America has not succeeded in destroying the Islamic Republic. I tell you: You will not succeed either.” Khamenei used this historical perspective to frame the current US administration as just another chapter in a decades-long failure to impose its will on Tehran.
Sovereignty and the Strait of Hormuz
A central theme of Khamenei’s recent messages is the refusal to negotiate over Iran’s domestic missile program. He categorized American demands to limit the range of Iranian missiles as a sign of the "decline of the corrupt, oppressive US empire" and a clear example of irrational interference. “They say, ‘Limit your missiles to this range.’ What’s that to do with you?! Without deterrent weaponry, a country will be crushed by the enemy,” he declared. This stance puts the Supreme Leader at odds with the primary goals of the Trump administration, which has sought to include missile limits in any potential nuclear deal.
To back this rhetoric with action, the Revolutionary Guard initiated the "Smart Control of the Strait" exercise. According to the Tasnim news agency, missiles launched from coastal batteries and inland sites struck designated targets within the Strait of Hormuz, the Persian Gulf, and the Gulf of Oman. This vital corridor, responsible for the transit of 20 percent of the world’s oil supply, became a live-fire zone as Tehran signaled its ability to disrupt global energy markets. Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baqaei reinforced the regime's position, stating that the lifting of sanctions is an "inseparable" and "part and parcel" element of any agreement. As the warships of the "Great Satan" patrol just miles away, the Supreme Leader’s message is clear: Iran will sooner see those ships at the bottom of the sea than surrender its military independence.
