Gal Gadot Out. Wonder Woman Reborn—Without Her.
It’s Official: Gal Gadot will not star in new “Wonder Woman” movie
DC Studios is forging ahead with a new “Wonder Woman” movie, sans Gal Gadot. James Gunn confirms the reboot will focus on Diana Prince’s daughter, signaling a new direction and leaving fans of Gadot’s iconic portrayal reeling.

DC Studios is moving forward with a new “Wonder Woman” film, but it will not star Israeli actress Gal Gadot, according to James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios and director of the “Guardians of the Galaxy” trilogy. In a Tuesday interview with Entertainment Weekly, Gunn revealed that the upcoming movie will center on Wonder Woman’s daughter, Themyscira, marking a shift from Gadot’s iconic portrayal of Diana Prince in Justice League and the two Wonder Woman films that launched her to global fame.
The decision aligns with DC Studios’ broader strategy to reboot its cinematic universe, effectively ruling out Gadot’s return as the Amazonian superheroine, though a surprise cameo remains possible.
Fans are disappointed, particularly in Israel, where Gadot is celebrated as a cultural icon. Last March, she became the first Israeli to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, largely due to her role as Wonder Woman.
DC Studios is also expanding its slate with other projects, including Superman set for release next month, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow in June 2026, Clayface in September 2026, and Dynamic Duo tentatively slated for June 2028. Gunn also teased a second Superman film, noting it will not be a direct sequel to the upcoming release, which he directed.
No further details about the new “Wonder Woman” film’s cast, director, or release date were provided. Studio representatives have not yet responded to inquiries from Variety.
